Oh!!! I haven't seen my friend (Urmila) for a long time; almost 5-6 years. On Sunday they came here in providence, RI to visit us. We are best friend from our early childhood in back home; Nepal and we used to go to same school in Nepal. Our house back home is so close to each other and we used to go to school together and play together. After I came here in USA , she got married back home few years ago. Then, for short time we were in two different country. After a while, she came here in USA and finally we met again last Sunday which was very much exciting and we both were happy to see each other after long time. Best Friends Are Forever......

Vijaya Dashami celebrated

The tenth and the main day of the Dashain festival, Vijaya Dashami, is being celebrated throughout the country and outside in various countries Thursday.

On this day people receive Tika, Jamara and blessings from elders amidst family gatherings and engage in merrymaking. In Nepal, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated not only by Hindus, but also by many other religious communities as a way of social interaction.

Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti – the official committee of astrologers – has prescribed auspicious time for Tika between 11:03 and 11:14 am and 11:46 and 11:55 am.

Generally, people receive Tika from their parents and elders at the most auspicious time and visit their relatives throughout the day. Those who cannot visit all of their relatives on the day can do so within five days till Purnima.

As this festival is known for family gatherings, people return from all parts of the world, as well as different parts of the country, to celebrate Dashain. Apart from the religious practices, Dashain is also marked by merrymaking, gambling and excessive consumption of food and liquor.

Nepalese living abroad also celebrate the festival passionately, as it provides them a rare opportunity to gather at one place and exchange greetings.

I am back again in my wonderful blog spot. Seems, like I am totally lost here. I haven’t updated my blog since Jan 13th. So many things happened after that.I got married with Yogya on February 25th, 2006 in Boston, USA. Our parents, family members, relatives and friends came from all over the place. The wedding ceremony took place in Laxmi Temple in Boston and one of the main Hindu Priests of that temple conducted our wedding. Here are some pictures:

We both graduated on May 18th, doing an MBA is not easy. We had to go through all the projects, exams and thesis. I am glad that we both succeeded in completing our MBA. It’s interesting too, for me I never thought that I was going to walk in the graduation ceremony with my husband. So I guess, it’s God’s plan that we both had a chance to graduate in the same time and same level. Here are some pictures of our graduation ceremony:

After our graduation both of our parents went back to “Nepal” on May 29th. We both missed them a lot. Since they came to the USA, I guess I had never been to the kitchen, my mom always cooked delicious food and we enjoyed a lot while they were here with us. After our MBA, We all went to New York, Washington DC and Boston to visit places and to meet our cousins in Virginia. It was fun and we all enjoyed the trip. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Time goes so fast, today is already June 30th and we both are still looking for job. Sometime I feel so frustrated because having an MBA and being without a job is so painful. It’s hard. I don’t know, not getting a job after you try so hard for your studies is painful. It’s really disappointing. I don’t know how many people are in this stage like me!! Everybody says that job market is good nowadays, but still searching a job from 9:00AM to 9:00PM and not getting a job is really disappointing.

I am hoping that some good news will come and hence still not giving up my job search. And for everyone those who read my blog, if you have some connection for jobs please let me know. I would be really glad to provide details about me.

I haven’t updated my blog since Jan 3rd. Today I don’t have a class and so I am able to update my blog. Well, classes have already started since last week. This week I was kind of excited and worried because my parents and my fiancé’s parents applied for visas to come to the USA for our wedding. And I heard from my friends that it’s very hard to get a visa nowadays. That even made me scared and worried. Well last night our parents called us and let us know that they got a multiple visa. And we both were very happy. Although we haven’t set a date for our wedding yet, but at least both our parents are going to be in our wedding.

Three people from Nepal killed in crash in southern Minnesota

Although, I don't know them personally, but being a Nepali, I am shocked to hear this sad news. My heartfelt and deep condolence towards the three Nepalese who were killed in accident and to their parents. May their souls rest in peace.

Back to Rhode Island from Washington D.C

As I said in my previous posting we went to the Washington D.C and Baltimore for this Christmas break. And now we are back to Rhode Island. Oh!! We had so much fun over there. It took us 6 hours to get to Baltimore. We celebrate the Christmas Eve with my Fiancé’s best friend Saroj. We had a good time over there. And in the Christmas Day we went to Washington D.C to meet my cousins. At my cousins house they had a “Momo party” in the evening. There were about 25 people and we got opportunity to meet everyone of them.

Basically my trip was a lot of fun. Now New Year is coming up!! So far I do not have any plan for it. But definitely I will let you know what’s my plan going to be for the New Year. Meanwhile I will try to finish my paper and study, which is due next week.

Today , I have checked everyone’s blog, and most of them are updated, so I knew what’s going on with them but my brother and sister-in-law haven’t updated anything, and it seems like they are lost in Barcelona (Spain) during this break. I haven’t talked with them almost a week. Hopefully I don’t have to publish in the news that “Pradeep and Sirjana are lost in Barcelona (Spain)” and offer reward to someone for their tip:):):).

Oh!! Well, that’s all basically. Will definitely update you all soon.

Holidays Plan!!!

We have two weeks of break from our college and few days off from my work. It feels great to have holidays. Two days ago one of my Nepalese friends had to go the Roger Williams Medical Center emergency room here at Providence. I had to stay overnight at the hospital to take care of her. Now she is discharged and doing fine at home.

During this break we are planning to go to Washington DC and we have rented car from enterprise for four days. I hope we will have good time at Washington DC and I will update on that once we come back from the trip. During this holiday’s season, I am getting enough time for other activities than usual.

Today is awesome day!!!!!!

I went to work early in the morning at 5 AM and came home around 12:30 PM. I have to study a lot in this break because I have to do three projects, which are due right after the break. Then I reviewed my book and I logged on Yahoo Messenger and SKYPE. Guess what?? My Sister-In-Law was there and we chatted for a while. I love her and miss her so much. Although we talked each other almost everyday, we haven’t seen each other almost five months. And other thing is “SKYPE” makes our life easier. You know why it’s free and it’s so clear to talk. So basically we use SKYPE to talk each other.

This evening I am planning to study “The culting of Brands”, so that I can start to write a paper. That’s all basically my activities so far for the day…will definitely update you tomorrow more!!!

Christmas Shopping

By starting my day, by reading the news online I ended up seeing bad news in my own country and thinking where we all Nepalese can fight for JUSTICE. Sometime it’s really frustrating to see poor Nepalese innocent people losing their lives.

According to kantipur news,
“KATHMANDU, Dec 15 - At least 11 people were killed in army firing at Chundevi temple in Nagarkot, eastern outskirts of Kathmandu around 11:30 pm Wednesday night. The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) confirmed the incident Thursday morning and said that details were still awaited. "The incident is very unfortunate," an RNA official told Kantipur Online.
"Casualties have been reported but we don't know the exact numbers yet," he added. Meanwhile, state-owned radio Nepal quoting RNA spokesman Umesh Bhattarai this morning confirmed the incident. "We are investigating the Nagarkot incident and will let the public know about it," the Radio Nepal quoted Bhattarai as saying. “

Oh!! Well, hopefully we all can bring “PEACE” to our country. Anyway, other than that bad news I am going to have good news too. My parents were not here (USA) in my engagement ceremony, you all know about that from my previous posting. Today my parents got the DVD and some pictures of my engagement that we sent from here. They were so proud of me by seeing that engagement ceremony on DVD and pictures. It took almost 13 days for the package to reach back home from here.

In the afternoon my fiancé and I went to Warwick mall to do some Christmas shopping. Although, we didn’t buy that much, we both enjoyed checking items in the different stores. And found out some of the items that I was looking for were not at the store but were available online. Then I found out, it was cheaper online than buying from the store at the mall. Even after I calculated the shipping and handling charges I found them cheaper online than buying at the store . So I decided to buy from online. From this experience, I figured out the importance of “Marketing”. By majoring marketing and management in my undergrad and again now concentrating on marketing in my MBA, It makes sense to me. People need to make some money in the holiday seasons. When you were in the rush or if you needed that item very badly, nobody cares where it’s cheaper…online or at the stores. People ended up buying whatever and wherever they see the products.

Oh!! Christmas time, I wish we were always going to have a Christmas because you don’t want to leave from mall. It was as always very crowded and you can see all the new items, people taking pictures with Santa and wrapping gifts. We even don’t know how many miles we walked in the mall but we definitely know after we get back home because we were tired of walking.

After I got home, I watched TV little while and as always I am now hunting some jobs online.

Today is the coldest day …it’s freezing

Well, by saying it’s cold out there, you can’t even imagine how cold it is. I had a class this evening and after I get out from my class, I had to stay in my car for at least 10 min because of cold. We get out so early from the class because our Prof. wants us to have a Christmas shopping, that means we are lucky otherwise our class runs until 10pm and today is the last day of my class before break and guess what? it’s time for Christmas and New Years BREAK. My class is not going to start until Jan 3rd 2006, which is going to be next year 2006:):) so I am going to have 2 weeks break from my school. What a relief!!! Poor me all the time being in school, I need this break so badly…don’t ask me why though:):).

This afternoon me and my fiancé had lunch at Vietnamese restaurant, food was good and we both enjoyed the lunch over there.

Got Engaged On “Thanksgiving Day” Nov 24th, 2005

Well, you all must be wondering where Pushpa been hiding. As you know I haven’t been able to update my blog since Nov 3rd. I was for the preparation of final exams and my engagement.

For engagement, we went to Texas and we got engaged on Thursday, Nov 24th in Thanksgiving Day. The engagement ceremony was awesome and we had more than 20 guests in that ceremony. It was such a special moment, when he put the engagement ring in my finger and both of us were really happy at that moment and we committed to each other for the rest of the life. We have not decided the wedding date yet but it will be decided soon.

Our parents, brother and sister-in-law could not make it to our engagement but Narayan dai came in from Virginia and also other cousins and friends. We really missed our parents at that moment and we wish they were with us to give us blessing. We hope everyone would be able to join us in our wedding.

Today is “Bhai Tika”…In other words “Brother and Sister” festival

Basically what’s “Bhai Tika” means, According to nepalnews.com "Sisters worship God Yamaraj on this day praying for long life, good health and well being of their brothers, put tika on the forehead, garlands around their neck and offer sweet and other traditional dishes on the occasion. Similarly, brothers also put garlands and tika to their sisters, offer money and pray for their long and happy life".

In this “Bhai Tika” I missed to put Tika to my brother because he is in Spain and I am in America. But what can we do…being far from family members we always missed our festival.

Seems like it’s going to be another busy day for me. Although, today is my day off from the work, I got up so early, I meant around 8:00am…but sounds like late isn’t it? For me morning is my good sleep. If I don’t have to do anything in the early morning or don’t have to go to work I love to sleep in the morning. Anyway, after that I checked my email and posted my resume to a different company. Hoping to get a real job soon!!! Sometimes it makes me so frustrated because I still haven’t get a real life job experience yet. Just don’t understand because of Job market or just because of my lack of experience. Hope God is going to favor me!!!!

I had a meeting at 4:00pm-5:45pm, hoping to be done with most of the part of our research but it’s always seems like we are going to take another day to finish before the presentation is due. Well then I headed to the class at 6:00pm.

Nov 1st …..Can’t believe its 72 degrees!!

As I said my last post that I am going to pop you again!! And here I am writing the blog. What a wonderful day we had yesterday, although I didn’t go outside and enjoy the sun but Sunny and clear sky makes me always happy besides raining. Oh!!well, yesterday my day was so busy, as usual went to work and came home after that we had a group meeting at 4:00-5:45pm for my Service marketing class. Meeting went well. At 6:00pm, I went to class. As usual we had a presentation and lecture. Some reason yesterday I fall sleep in the middle of the Lecture. This is bad for MBA students. Now as you know how smart I am being in a classroom. Came home celebrate the Laxmi Puja at my apt at 11:00pm. After that i reviewed the case for Thursday class. And felt being lazy and didn’t concentrate my case studies and I ended up watching movie and went to bed at 1:30am.

Nov 2nd…again we are having clear sky and sunny day !!!

Didn’t feel good this afternoon, because of bad headache. Oh!! Well that’s natural thing isn’t it? While winter is approaching soon!! getting sick and having cold is normal in the winter time I guess. Today I don’t have a class but my final projects are killing me!!! Being a group leader sometimes is another headache. So I decided to go to the library and do the service marketing project. Which as you know take forever!!!! And guess what our presentation is going to be next week (Nov 8th). Hopefully we are going to be able to finish by this weekend. If our group member showed up on the time.. that’s a another good/bad sign!! Now I realized being a MBA student it’s not easy, reading 25-30 pages case and present in the class and top of that doing the group project is another hell!!! If your group member is out of control!!! You know what I am talking about….
Anyway, it’s already getting too late now and my stomach is crying…

Halloween Day!!

It's a Halloween Day!! Hope nobody is going to be scared while reading my blog:):). Oh!! well my friend decorated my face this morning at my work...guess what? Spider in my right cheek. Today lots of things are going on in my mind. Well, In USA it's Halloween, and back home it's a "Laxmi Puja". I am missing to celeberate the Laxmi Puja with my Mom. Laxmi puja is like christmas here celebrating with lots of lights everywhere.

Anyway, beside that i cleaned my room and took a nap for a while. When i woke up Yogya (my close friend)was preparing dinner for me!! it was delicious:):) then tonight at 10:00pm we are going to see the Halloween Party infront of my house.
